Steel chains
cool drinks
cedar beams
wood planks
wind chimes
spin and remind.
Porch swing &
bumble bees
wood creaks
metal pings
our thing
unwind our spring.
Gentle rocking
cloud watching
fancy coffee
salt-less toffee
phone-free zone
raised feet
heavenward thrown.
Birds arrival.
echoes of laughter
finches feed
greening grass
yellow daffodils
Chased by north winds.
Trains thunder
showers shower
buds pop
branches drop
lightning flashes
rumble reverberate.
Trees bend to
March winds
cool concrete
warming sun
frogs croaking
summer longings
Porch swings
release emotion
change has come
tears drip
thoughts travel
not-so-distant past.
Chime tings
memories sing
same space
different time
younger swing
with a younger me
And a future that wasn’t mine.
