Heaven Kissed Me
By Craig Matthews © 2026
I was kissed by heaven today.
I tried to stop her,
but she would not give way.
She determined to deliver
an oft held blessing
After so long my waiting,
my heart felt an undressing.
Lo, it had been such a delay,
why this now, why this today?
Fear surged at the thought
of this unfamiliar flirtation.
Was this a real thing
some sort of incarnation?
She leaned in close
and did what only heaven can do.
Her lips were soft and warm,
her eyes sparkled with blue.
I thought desire had died
without me trying to strive.
All my waiting and wanting
vanished in a tender caress,
of her breath and her kiss.
Heaven did not hold back
or turn in some other way
she kissed me with a sweetness.
My life breathed again today.
There you are, beautiful life.
This tender breeze
caressed my neck
Stirring a hope
it brought me back,
back from death.
Heaven kissed me today,
I know her name,
and life is…
beautiful again.
