Tilt is a wandering veteran of the Second American Civil War. He’s just trying to remain in the shadows and make it through another day. He’s hoping his past has been left behind, like all the fighting he endured. Then, one night, while minding his own business, a dream comes calling. It is calling him away from his familiar and into the unknown. The pull of the dream is immense, and so is the desire to run the other way.

His journey begins by swimming across the Maumee River in northern Ohio and heading north toward a distant dream that is harassing him. When Internal Security finds out he is headed toward Michigan, they dispatch a couple of agents from head quarters in Columbus to track him. His past is closing in while the future is luring him forward, but to Tilt, it feels like a trap.

Dreams evaporated about the time the war ended. People forgot how to hope because the new world is so difficult. Will hope take root, or will another dream be crushed? Sabotage has the advantage and a secret weapon chained behind the church Tilt is walking toward.
