Doing the Do Do from the B

Doing. Striving. Trying. Pushing. Moving forward.

It matters, but not as much as something else. Not even close.

In fact, without this something else, all the aforementioned movements will simply wear you out. It will drive frustration deeper inside your soul.

When you are grinding toward your identity, you rarely are satisfied. There is little peace or contentment in your life. You are doing the heavy lifting, and you will do it again tomorrow, so you can become the person you want to be. It is exhausting.

Life is flipped on its head when you first know who you are.

For me, that began to change when I finally realized God chose me to be His very own son. He had not picked me to be on his team because I could do something for him. He did it out of divine mercy and love.

I could not earn it. I could not buy it. I did not inherit it. It was not a birthright from a certain correct theological lineage.

Doing from a place of knowing that I am loved is the antithesis of strivingto be.

Read that again.

Doing from Being.

Doing from Being is life-changing.

Stop striving. Be.

Be first.

“Who is the greatest in the kingdom of God?” Jesus was asked by his disciples.

Jesus placed a little child in the midst of them. “Truly I say to you, unless you turn and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3-4

Simple childlike trust in a God who loves you. Start here.

Be.

Then do.

It is so easy to do this backwards and end up burnt out, disillusioned, and frustrated.

Be first, every day.

Then get to work to serve Him who loves you most by loving those around you.

Doing from the Be.

Be first.

Do second.
